John Kelly says Congress has done "nothing" to fix DACA
In an email sent to Fox News on Sunday, Kelly responded directly to those claims, saying Congress has the "luxury" of doing nothing.
"As far as the congressman and other irresponsible members of congress are concerned, they have the luxury of saying what they want as they do nothing and have almost no responsibility," Kelly wrote in the email. He added, "During my time at DHS - from 20 Jan until this moment - I have met with hundreds of members on both sides of the hill … My [message] always was 'I have bought you time to do something on DACA.' I begged and pleaded with them. They did exactly nothing." While the memo, outlined by Sessions and the Department of Homeland Security, contains a six-month window of adjudication -- essentially allowing Congress a time frame to develop its own immigration legislation -- Kelly wrote that he is less than convinced they will act. "I worked and succeeded to give the congress another six months to do something. I am not confident," said Kelly. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbs...g-to-fix-daca/ |

Yup, he is totally right. This issue will go cold and nothing will happen.

Re: John Kelly says Congress has done "nothing" to fix DACA
The only reason I'm still hopeful it's because of this:
"We hope we don’t have to get to a face-down with the White House or Republicans over this issue," Durbin said. "But Senator Schumer and Nancy Pelosi have made it abundantly clear that this is a priority. We’re not going to leave town without it.” Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer and his House counterpart, Nancy Pelosi, have both demanded protection for the young immigrants. If nothing happens after december, then yeah it's over. |

I hope and pray this works out for us. That's why exactly we need to keep on calling and writing and everything. So as I understand, Wednesday's meeting is to evaluate DACA's benefit, not DA's. Is that right?

Re: John Kelly says Congress has done "nothing" to fix DACA
John Kelly is a good man. He's done a lot to try to help the Trump presidency too. I kinda agree with him. Since DACA has been rescinded, all I have seen is a lot of talk and procrastination on how to deal with us. I'd rather they do something for us sooner rather than later. God knows what the future holds. Better to come up with something now!!! Heck, I will even take the Bridge Act now.

I feel like we are going to end up with Bridge Act all last minute. I'm fine with that, it will take us to the beginning of the next president's term.

I don't see how Bridge Act would pass but not Dream Act. I believe they would both require Border Security, might as well push for Dream Act.
Kelly speaks the truth, Congress is all talk, they don't give a shit how desperate we are. They couldn't care less. Only a few do. |
