GOP senator: McConnell pledged to bring up DACA bill in January
 

Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) said on Wednesday that he has secured a promise from Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) to bring up a legislative fix for a key Obama-era immigration program next month.

“ i am ... pleased that the Majority Leader has committed to bring the bipartisan DACA bill we are currently negotiating to the Senate floor in January," Flake said in a statement, referring to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

Flake's statement comes after he predicted early Wednesday morning that a bill would come up on the Senate floor next month, as lawmakers appear increasingly likely to punt the fight to next year.

If senate brings it to the floor, the house will not. It seems that history is repeating itself...

Anyways, what can we do? I was wondering if anyone knows how to make a telemarketer type robot (the ones that sound just like a real person)? We can program it to have different voices and repeatedly call senators' and representatives' offices all day continuously in support of the Dream Act. Just bombard them and overwhelm them with support for DA.

I was going through the comments on one of the articles. Yes, I know they are always horrible, but one of the comments caught my eye. It said he or she made calls along with friends to their representatives to oppose the Dream Act. Looks like the opposition is always moving against us. Also one of the senators/representatives said that he wants to see more phone calls to gauge whether there is support for DA. We need to step it up somehow, but in a smart way.

If programming a telemarketing robot is too much, we can hold some type of convenient online website where we all volunteer to make phone calls one after another with a checklist of senators/representatives that keeps recycling itself through the site. You login and decided to make the phone call that has not been made yet. And the list keeps recycling itself. Considering how many time we check this website doing nothing but wasting time, we could be doing something that maybe, just maybe, actually helps.

Only reason I see it not being brought up for a vote is if the White House demands too much, or Democrats not wanting to let Republicans take credit for it and saying that the demands are too much when in reality they aren't. We'll have to wait and see what the White House demands in the coming days.

Until McConnell himself says this, and there’s an actual deal, this is just smoke and mirrors so Dems will cave this week.

Either way this is all taking place before the final spending bill. No more CRs can be passed, the hope is republicans will work with democrats to pass a bipartisan bill.

No doubt that will have to be included in exchange for DA, the question is, does this mofo want an actual wall like he had said, or repairs/new fencing etc. If he wants the wall, we're screwed.
