Ron Johnson: Trump’s comments unfortunate, but DACA deals are up to Congress
Republican Sen. Ron Johnson, on a Sunday morning political talk show recorded before Trump’s tweet, said that while Trump's comments were “unfortunate on many fronts,” he was optimistic that Congress would reach an immigration deal.
That agreement lies in the fact that “there are so many of us that want to fix the Dreamers problem, but also want to secure our border” and fix the legal immigration system, he said, although he conceded that there is less agreement on the last issue. He said Congress should take the opportunity to tackle all these problems at once, a move he said he believes the American people will support. Wisconsin needs immigrant workers, especially for the dairy industry, he said. http://host.madison.com/ct/news/loca...7581f49ba.html I believe they are going to move forward without trump . |

Whatever momentum we have left needs to stay alive in Congress.
We need them to continue pushing for this Dreamer deal, and ending this problem once and for all!!! I hope the Democrats do not give in... Maybe a shutdown isn't necessary...maybe if they pass another CR, then maybe that will mean that overall a Dreamer fix is still being discussed? Kicking the can again and again, and getting a fix 5 years or 10 years down the road, means so many of us end up being citizens in our 40s, 50s, and 60s maybe even? That is if it passes with a standard 5 years conditional + 5 years permanent resident status from the day a bill is codified into law...seems like such a wasted effort if we get it so late... |

Like how do you have permanent legal status, but not allowed to travel for example...are they effectively trapping a group of people in the USA and threatening them with a 10 year ban if they dare to leave the country? How do you have permanent legal status, but then are told to pay more taxes just because you aren't a citizen, or just because you have this legal status? Sure they can create any type of new legal status category, but it seems like it would backfire in the long run. Also, lets say they simply just give us TPS for example, but look at the fiasco now with TPS...doesn't seem so stable anymore. Sure I guess I can live with some type of second class resident status, but it seems so counterproductive for everyone involved. |

Trump and DOJ might not go after DACA... if they do it means that no permanent solution is trying to be reached. Why would they care daca has been revivied if a better solution is around the corner?
