Black Activists are not with us
https://twitter.com/tariqnasheed/sta...14586991939585
After Camila Cabello’s speech on Dreamers on the Grammys stage a well known black activist on Twitter called her out with this speech “I’m no. This country was NOT “built” by Dreamers. It was built by the free labor of Black Americans who are still disrespected by white supremacists and immigrant groups who often exhibit the same anti-Black hatred. So chill with the alternate history”. His tweet has gotten over 20 thousand retweets from mostly black users. This country was indeed found by young immigrants. Idk why people black people want to make this the a game of who can be oppressed the most. |
Re: Black Activists are not with us
Saying this country was built by dreamers completely dismisses what black peoplr went through or any other people who were oppressed like native Americans
Now some Native American activist will say "No this country wasn't built on the back of black slaves, it was built on the suffering of million of my people" |

As for Tariq's response...he isn't a prominent black acitivist. He is a fringe pan Africanist that is problematic. He doesn't represent mainline black activism, and we shouldn't say that "black activists are not with us" because of the comments of a fringe person. |

Re: Black Activists are not with us
They probably took her comment out of context. I think what she meant by “this country was built on dreamers “ was that it was built by immigrants who had the taste for the American Dream and were able to fulfill that and in the process they helped build this country of what it is now. At least that’s how I took it. People have to remember that before us the “Dreamers”, there was the people that were the original “Dreamers”. The people that were looking for the “American Dream” that migrated here before us.
Also this doesn’t surprise me coming from them. Not to try to start a race war, but a lot of the African Community also gave Chamillionaire a hard time for helping out a Mexican family who’s dad was being deported after being in the country for many years. According to them black people should only be helping black people... https://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/us_5...b06e25326700cf |
Re: Black Activists are not with us
For fuck's sake, it's Tariq Nasheed.
He's such an *esteemed* activist, becoming famous for writing such insightful books as "The Art of Mackin' ", "The Art of Gold Digging", and "The Elite Way: 10 Rules Men Must Know in Order to Deal With Women". https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/10...g?v=1481523400 |
Re: Black Activists are not with us
I do not understand. Many Dreamers are of African descent especially if they're from the following countries: Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Venezuela, the coast of Colombia, Panama, the coast of Honduras, Veracruz in Mexico, Haiti, Brazil, Trinidad & Tobago, etc.
OP, the man sounds like an African AMERICAN supremacist who is going against his people as well. |
