Koch-backed group launches ad to pressure Congress to protect ‘dreamers’

Quote:

A group backed by the influential Koch network on Monday launched a digital ad pushing for permanent relief for undocumented immigrants brought into the country as children, as the group increases pressure on Congress to protect “dreamers.”

The ad, titled “We Are Patriots,” will run on Facebook, Twitter and Google. It highlights “dreamers” as Americans and patriots and incorporates messages of economic and family values as an appeal to conservative audiences.

This is the first ad campaign specifically on the fate of dreamers by the LIBRE Initiative, one of a constellation of groups funded through the Koch network, and its first major immigration ad push since the Gang of 8 immigration negotiations in 2013.

Monday’s ad launch is a part of the group’s broader immigration advocacy on behalf of hundreds of thousands of dreamers, who could face deportation as soon as March 5. The LIBRE Initiative is mobilizing grass-roots activists in 11 states and the District, targeting Spanish-language media and advocating on Capitol Hill.

Wow...

Glad I'm not part of the group that keeps trying to convince people here that nothing will happen.

Don't liberals hate the Koch brothers for their capitalism or something?

This is good coming from them.

I thought these guys were heavily influential to the GOP. They've been "pushing" for us for a while now.

Koch brothers paid 500k to Paul Ryan after his passage of the Tax bill. Let’s hope they influence him into bringing a bill for a vote.

It feels like there is no chance of anything happening in March. All these politicians do is talk without any true action.

Yet the Koch brothers fund the FC and ted Cruz

They preach one thing, but if they really wanted to coerce republicans to pass protections, they would.

Liberals care about protecting the marginalized and corporatists like the Koch brothers care about a larger supply of labor for a higher quality workforce and lower wages. Win-win for everyone.

Very true. If they cared that much they would pressure the White House to stop listening to Miller.

I'm honestly over it. Seems like we will have to take the House from the Reps and beat Trump in 2020.

His approval ratings are AWFUL for a 1st term President.

I'm an independent but go Dems! Like they say, having a common enemy makes great allies

All they need to do is threaten them with withdrawing donations. The Dream Act would be signed tomorrow if that were to happen. All these platitudes mean nothing.
