Is it safe for my mom to apply for residency through my brother

My younger brother will turn 21 on August 1st and I want to pay all the expenses for my moms application. She came here legally through a Tourist Visa in 1996 and has never had an order of deportation or anything like that.

My brother is a problem though. Big Sigh. He’s a lazy bum who refuses to get a job or even go to college (I swear people with papers fail to take the opportunities of what they have). I don’t know if that will hurt her application but I want her to apply anyways cause this racist administration wants to end chain immigration soon.

Right now with the current immigration climate and this administration idk what will happen if she does apply though. Will my brother not having a job affect her application?

I don't know about the job part, but even with this political climate, there are thousands of people applying to adjust their status. Find a competent attorney though.

As long as he can provide paper work that he has enough income or assets to support your mom. I think it will be safe to apply.

He has to show he can support your mom although with a good lawyer anything goes. My cousin is a bum, but his mom hired a good lawyer and got her GC in 5 months.

There also ways to have another citizen to sort of cosign that he would provide your mom... Look into it.

That’s what I had heard but if he doesn’t have a job then i don’t how that’s possible. If anything she supports him, my mom holds 2 jobs.

I meant someone outside the family. There are multiple ways of showing she won't be a burden.

Mhmm interesting. Did your cousin not have any income during the time he fixed your aunt?

Nope. He is supported by his mom. He even got a girl pregnant lol. Maybe they put some money under his name in some account. You are better off asking a lawyer.
