H-1B visa denials rise after Trump ‘hire American’ order: report
I'm not sure if this goes here but here it is.
President Donald Trump’s “Buy American and Hire American” executive order last year appears to have led federal immigration officials to deny more requests for the controversial H-1B visa, according to a new report. The H-1B, intended for highly skilled foreign workers and heavily used by Silicon Valley’s technology industry, has become a flashpoint in the debate over immigration, with critics pointing to reported abuses and claiming holders of the visa take jobs from Americans. Now, the non-profit research institute National Foundation for American Policy is reporting that denial rates for the H-1B shot up significantly toward the end of last year. And this year, officials were continuing to nix applications for skills-based visas at a high rate, the institute reported. It said the upswing in denials was “likely due to new Trump administration policies.” The H-1B denial rate jumped to 22 percent in the last quarter of the last fiscal year, from 16 percent in the third quarter, a 41 percent increase, according to the institute, which said its findings were based on data from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration. The institute also said its conclusion that denial rates for skills-based visas were high so far this year was based on interviews with lawyers and companies, plus other data. Denials of H-1B applications started to rise soon after President Donald Trump issued the “Buy American and Hire American” executive order in April 2017, the institute said. Data suggest H-1B denials rose as Trump administration political appointees began guiding the decisions of visa adjudicators at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration, according to the institute. https://www.mercurynews.com/2018/07/...-order-report/ |

This is quite silly. This is exactly why we're so behind in every category in the world. Only like 40-45% of americans have degrees, most of them already have jobs. What are you going to hire your neighborhood homeless bum to do a job that requires way more credentials than what the average american has?
H1B = Genius visa. Make America rank 20 in STEM Again. |

And also that we need these visas to steal talent from the rest of the world. I would love to hear you make your case with credible sources. |

Many Americans are used to getting what they want without putting in any effort. We get a ton of applications from people with High School or Community College educations trying to "break into tech" lmfao. Now hypothetically speaking. 1.- Do we as a country want to have more qualified people than available jobs? 2.- Or de we want to have more available jobs than qualified people? One option leads to recessions. You pick. |

I only stated what I had heard. The arguments they throw out is that native born people shouldn't have to compete against US immigrants. Quote:
Hmmmmmm Option number 2? I'd rather have more jobs than qualified because that means we need more people, and can thus train more people to get those jobs. |

Its not that americans cant get jobs because of H1b, its that there arent enough americans that have the potentials of H1b. How can you have job posting trickery? Must be some shady company then. People here are just mad that those from 3rd world countries that went to school in ripped sandals are better, smarter and have potential than someone here who was given all the best opportunities. Also, we arent stealing shit. People would flock here if it wasnt for the convoluted system in place. |
