Centrist Dems urge Pelosi to break shutdown stalemate

group of centrist House Democrats, eager to end the shutdown and sick of political posturing, is pressing Speaker Nancy Pelosi to counter President Donald Trump’s immigration proposal with her own potential compromise.

The group, led by Rep. Elaine Luria of Virginia, is asking the California Democrat to offer Trump a vote on his border wall sometime in February if he signs a bill reopening the federal government, according to a draft copy of the letter obtained by POLITICO.

The lawmakers also say the measure should be open to amendment to allow lawmakers to protect Dreamers and those currently in Temporary Protected Status — ensuring that Democrats would be able to put their stamp on any immigration and border security measure.

“We promised our constituents that we would seek bipartisan solutions, and we feel that this proposal would gain bipartisan support and allow a transparent process to evaluate the true needs of border security and provide much-needed reform to our immigration process,” the letter reads.

My girl Nancy has been saying this all along! First open the government and then we will discuss border security! Nothing new here!

She can’t make the counter offer public. Going to be same shit. Trump going to say Democrats care about illegal more than them and blame shutdown on Democrats again. Trump is losing voters right now. The longer the shutdown the more power he’s going to lose.

1) He will not make it to 2020
2) He will be challenged by another Republican
3) If 1+2 does not apply, I do not see him winning Michigan or Pennsylvania next time around. Wisconsin is still a possibility, but very very unlikely. So yeah, he is already toast.

Naw no counteroffers. We will not be able to get even a 50/50 deal with that rat Miller in the White House. At this point we can all renew to outlast Chump.

if(and that's a big if) trump loses in 2020, get ready for the country to shift further to the right than you've ever seen. and not the boogeyman-right a lot of you here are scared of.
it'd just be fuel to the fire, congress would be redder than you've seen in a long time.
