DACA to U Visa

Is anyone familiar with the U Visa process or know what to expect? I’ve had DACA since DACA was created and I was over 18 when I first applied so I did accrue unlawful presence (probably a year or 11 months). The police department gave me a call today to go down to pick up the documents I requested because the police department has approved and signed off on I-918, supplement Form B. I will be picking up the form this Friday and meeting with my lawyer on Saturday to begin the next step of the process. I’m excited and nervous. Just wanted to see if anyone has gone through a similar experience.

I applied last year around may or June, I’m kinda disappointed because the waiting now is around 10-11 years.

As long as you have the Supplemental, you should be all set. The process does take sometime however due to the limited amount of visas available and amount of people applying.

I got the Supplemental on Friday and I went to the lawyer yesterday. The process sort of reminds me of when I applied for DACA the first time since I have to get the affidavits for good moral character to ask for a pardon. Everything is going smoothly so far and it does seem it’s going to take some years but at least it’s another option now.
