Colorado urges automatic extension of DACA authorizations during pandemic

Gov. Jared Polis sent a letter Tuesday urging the federal government to automatically extend work authorizations set to expire this year for all Deferred Action Childhood Arrival recipients, citing the coronavirus pandemic.

“Coloradans face unprecedented challenges to their economic and social lives, and this extension would provide some needed stability to our businesses and residents who benefit from opportunities that DACA provides,” Polis wrote in a letter to Department of Homeland Security Acting Secretary Chad Wolf.

Polis commended the federal department for using previous biometrics data to continue processing of certain employment authorization requests because of the closure of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services offices to the public since March 18. But he asked Wolf to take it “a step further” as unemployment numbers hit historic highs and universities and colleges shut down campuses, leaving students unable to get the legal assistance they usually provide.

“These realities create difficulties for DACA recipients to submit renewals in a timely fashion, despite the actions you have taken thus far,” he wrote.

You are wrong. Please send your paperwork in if you haven't already.

You might feel confident because you remember the DACA-reference in that one coronavirus stimulus bill, but that part got stripped out of the final bill.

Honestly they should just grant DACAs conditional greencards and balance that with a border wall provision and let the chips fall where they may.

Make the removal of condition on the greencards tied to border wall completion.

and trade all this in for a termination on immigration other than immediate family members.

If the recession hits as hard as economists are expecting... we might as well kiss that DACA congress extension or legalization good bye. It would be very hard to sell it to Americans out of work etc.

Problem is most Americans are in the hospitality business. Those who are in technology is constantly being replaced by better candidates.

Moral of the story? Don't take American hospitality jobs and stay in the high paying sector instead.

Good. now stay indoors, don't touch anyone, don't touch anything.

It is clear that this pandemic was caused by an accidental leakage of the virus outside of the Wuhan Institute of Virology. In Beijing the SARS virus leaked out 4 times in a row.

Chinese cannot be trusted to contain lab leaks.

Viruses are very slippery and well designed to escape. 14-29 day incubation period means researchers don't notice they have leaked, and either release infected test monkeys, or are infected themselves.

Vaccines themselves can also leak viruses if they are live weakened type. Such as with polio.
