Has anyone had luck with TDAmeritrade?
So far I've been reading that this is the toughest one to get in when it comes to investing.
The options upon sign up as follows: US Citizen or Non-Citizen, the latter will go down choices where it seems like you're a complete foreigner, like there's really nothing in between that fits DACA status. Their system does not recognize our SSN at all. Some advised to pick US Citizen and then call them to explain, some picked non-US citizen. The last choice had people mailing them actual documents, while the first choice is basically just calling them and emailing them. So I'm super confused. Either it's a very long process with them or you'd have to pick US Citizen just because their system doesn't recognize our status. Has anyone had any luck? If so, do you remember which choices you picked specifically? Can you tell us which? |

I've used Robinhood, WeBull, and most recently transferred everything with Fidelity. No issue with any of them, Fidelity took a few days to confirm personal info and be able to trade. Best of luck in this volatile market!

Why does it have to be that company? Any special situation? Just do Fidelity? They are happy to sign up DACA recipients.

Re: Has anyone had luck with TDAmeritrade?
I was able to open a TD Ameritrade for my HSA. Had to apply using a paper application and send in some additional things. Took longer, but wasn’t bad. Just call them if you want to use them.
Fidelity was very easy to open. I like them. Robinhood was easy to open, but was getting shit fills, so I stopped using them years ago. Ally(previously TradeKing) was easy to open and I still use. TRowePrice is what I use for 401k. |
Re: Has anyone had luck with TDAmeritrade?
I had no luck with telephone calls and live chat. I sent an email and got a reply today after 4 working days; I wanted to confirm if my forms are in order but the TDA staff just gave me a generic answer. He mentioned at least 6+ weeks to open an account too. It could be longer; from this forum and others such as google review, saw some have not even got their accounts opened after 6 months. Saw some feedback on system issues showing incorrect account balances too.
