The far-reaching move empowers federal immigration agencies, including U.S. Immigration Customs Enforcement, to target a population of migrants who came to the U.S. with the government's permission and who expected to be shielded from deportation, at least temporarily.

Now, ICE officers can arrest, detain and deport — in some cases, in an expedited fashion — at least 1.5 million migrants who came to the U.S. in recent years under programs the Biden administration said dissuaded illegal immigration but that the Trump administration now argues were unlawful.

....But Huffman expanded expedited removal nationwide and made it applicable to migrants who can't prove they've been in the U.S. for over two years. That decision is already being challenged in federal court by pro-immigrant advocates.

In his latest memo on Thursday, Huffman said immigration authorities, exercising their new powers, should review cases and determine who is eligible to be placed in expedited removal. That process, he said, could include revoking the parole status of an individual, as well as terminating any pending immigration court case, to seek that person's quick removal from the U.S.

Huffman's memo indicated those who are not eligible for expedited removal, because they have been in the U.S. for more than two years, are also at risk of being targeted for deportation.

Is this the mass deportations he was referring to? Is he going to track down each parolee? Or is this just the first steps of a larger plan. Hmmmm

I am truly saddened to say this, but I believe that those individuals that Biden has allowed in should be sent back to their home countries. Many of them are Venezuelans who have unfortunately tarnished the reputation of all immigrants.

It is evident that their intentions are not to come here and work hard to contribute positively to society, but rather to take advantage of the system for their own benefit. This is not what being an immigrant is about. Immigrants should strive to be good people and make a positive impact in their new communities.

From the gangs, to killing innocent civilians, to going on camera saying they want free hotels and do not want to work, they all have to go.

Everyone allowed in the last 4 years need to go back. Now we know what it feels like what legal immigrants go through. In all technicality we are "legal" immigrants that gave them our info, paid taxes, etc for the last 15 years. These recent arrivals got free 10k debit cards, free housing, interest free home loans, etc.

Citizens see this and think we are all given all this free stuff. I pay $15,000 in taxes every year. Probably closer to $20K from all the taxes, fees, surcharges just from daily life.

It wasn't a federal program that gave them this, but rather it was NYC with their right to shelter law. I said it was going to backfire tremendously back then when it started and here we are.

Simply put their asylum cases should've been heard at their nearest consulate and then if valid they can hop on a flight and come here. Facilitating the entry through mass parole was just going to encourage more people to attempt the exceptionally dangerous trek through the worst parts of LatAm.

Mexico is just stable enough to not permit asylum claims, but if you vote to let your country become communist you get everything and anything. See the cubans, they just get paroled. Wait a bit. And they are issued green cards with the Cuban Adjustment Act.
