Illinois Gov. Facing Corruption Charges

The governer was suppose to choose the replacement for the senate seat that president elect obama left. Dick Durbin Suggest having a vote to replace the senate seat. I'm worried about two things 1. The replacement was suppose to be pro-DREAM and democratic (unless i read some articles wrong), is there a chance that we get the complete opposite? 2. Will this process slow down the senate, and in turn slow down any bills that need to be passed - DREAM act? |
Re: Illinois Gov. Facing Corruption Charges
All this really means, or at least what I've hearing all day, is that Gov. Blagojevich wont be making any extra cash *sad face* and he'll most likely lose his seat as governor. I don't think we have to worry about a Republican getting the Senate seat if that's what you're worried about though.

Re: Illinois Gov. Facing Corruption Charges
It's about time he got caught. I can't believe all the shit he did... what's up with IL and our corrupt governors?
I think he will most likely resign as governor and Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn will replace him. Quinn will then get to appoint who will replace Obama's Senate seat. Quinn is a Democrat. |

Re: Illinois Gov. Facing Corruption Charges
The GOP is trying to tie Obama into the Blagojevich scandal. I watched a Republican on MSNBC making a bad attempt at incriminating him.
Durbin's calling for a special election instead of an appointment by the governor. |

Re: Illinois Gov. Facing Corruption Charges
^ I don't think that's right. To be sure, the Republicans tried to de-legitimize Clinton's Presidency, mostly with Monica-gate, but they failed because the public viewed it as a witch hunt. Clinton left office with higher approval ratings than President Reagan (66-65% for Clinton to 64-63% for Reagan) fueled by the booming economy in marked contrast to what we have now. These Presidents do have comparable scandals, but people remember Monica more than Iran-Contra because of its salaciousness and because its more recent. But people also remember the booming economy too. That's why you have Obama re-assembling the Clinton economic team that Clinton assembled. Before Clinton, the Democrats were not trusted on the economy at all because of Carter's performance (Carter has a great Ex-Presidency though), and because of the memory of the 90's economy and how well it ran, that helped Obama win the Presidency along with Obama's unique gifts.
As for Illinois, if there is a special election, I hope Obama campaigns for the Democrat, who I think should win because of the blue-ness of Illinois. A Republican can't take his seat, that's for sure! |
Re: Illinois Gov. Facing Corruption Charges
This things so messed you. I don't know why people and media making a big deal abt this. They r politician, not saint. Every politician makes deal for their own good. Do you think senator that oppose immigration, really care abt illegal immigration? Only reason they shout, is to create fear which in turn win election and don't worry abt debating substantial issue. All them are closet GAY.
There most likely going to be an special election. I hope and pray that a democrat with pro dream act and immigration view. But U never know. Republican might just eke out a victory. In that case we would loose a valuable vote. Why this kind of things don't happen to session or vitte or asshole senator from South Carolina (Demoiunt). |
