I contacted my Congresswoman's office for assistance with my case, since it's beyond the normal processing time of 6 months. Her assistant sent the inquiry the following day. Surprise, surprise!...

Both of my sisters have the same type of case as me because we were minors when that was going on. Their apps were transferred so that can't be the reason.

Does anyone know why DACA cases are being transferred to local USCIS offices (other than to even out the caseloads at the S.C.'s)?

No, that's not true. In Florida, DACA recipients can use their Employment Authorization Document to obtain a TEMPORARY driver's license (I believe it lasts for 1 year). You have to get it renewed...

No, they don't update the status once you've completed the biometrics. It usually is only updated once you get a Request for Evidence (RFE) and/or when they decide to approve/deny the application.
