yes it is a real number. i got it when i was in legal status. On the SSN..it says" valid to work only with the authorization of DHS".

Hey..i am from Illinois and in illinois...you have to have an SSN to apply for drivers license. It doesn't have to be a "valid to work SSN"..it can just be a SSN. I happen to have an SSN ..but im not...
