The whole point of deferment is that you are deferred from deportation for 2 years. I would just say no when asked if you are a US Citizen and just show your EAD that you are legally allowed to work...

In the 7 month club here... will be 8 months in not too long. Been in the US since I was 4, 28 now. And early on lots of student visas etc... And I lived in 4 states... so lots of paperwork to go...
