Yes you need it to get financial aid. It's also necessary for other gov backed things and even in some states you need it for a drivers license. You could never hold a gov job if you don't register....

I don't get how this even works. You just put the name, address, birthday on the forum and leave social blank. Then you get the card in the mail.

How do they even verify you are you?
