That happened to me. They sent an RFE asking if I still needed to travel and I sent back info showing the program was still underway. It got approved a week or two later.

Sorry, didnt see your reply. I'm a Mexican citizen, so I don't have a south American cédula besides the one I got through my visa in Chile, so I think I'll have to use my passport

Did they ask about how long you were gone or anything? Do they go on a computer and recheck everything or do they just take your forms and let you pass?

I would've considered it but I already have...

That's good to hear. I figured the same thing. None of the countries I'm visiting are war zones or terrorist havens or something like that. Can I ask what the process is usually like? Extensive...

Forgot I posted this. But no, I'm actually in South America and am planning to travel to two other countries once the semester ends. My citizen wife is with me and we'll be returning to the US...

I'm in a situation where I only listed the country I was studying abroad at. Now that I'm here, I want to take the chance to visit neighboring countries before going back.

Will that be a red flag?...

I submitted my application back in November and finally got approved in early March.

I'm actually abroad on a whole different continent for a study abroad program.
