She's not..she is obviously an impostor. Reporters have a technique when hunting for stories. Part of their technique is to give the idea of fame and exploit his/her subjects desire for 15 minutes of national airtime. They do this by telling, from the get-go, what news channel they work for, who they're doing the story for and a context of the show. So that people can get excited and want to talk to reporters.
"Meredith" is probably an Alitard who doesn't know the art of subtlety. If she was a reporter, she would've followed up on this thread.
