Michael Steele is a slightly more moderate compared to many republicans. The whole picking him because he is an African American is just a coincidence. He was a leading candidate from the start. He just happened to be the most moderate out of the favorite bunch, kind of sad, so overall they went with him. Being African American was just a plus. This alone wont attract minorities.

Also, about his statement on Fox. Well, he was on FOX. Why are we surprised? Do you think he wants hate mail, and death threats from hardcore conservatives when he just started? He is basically saying what McCain said.

Finally, passing the DA without republican support is just stupid; it isn't even possible. We need some of their support. Remember that Orrin Hatch, a Republican, use to be the chief sponsor of the bill. There are good republicans. Don't let the anti-immigrant fringe of the party get to you. I mean it is FOX news.
