A lot of students are queer but don't mention it so they are not 'outed' but I get emails from some periodically who talk about their really unique situations. It's also great to have them pull you to the side and talk to you like "Omg, I am a gay dreamie too!" I just had some ex dreamie email me with a long survey talking about how he had to leave his home at 17 etc. It's heartbreaking at times, but if it means having some of us be more visible so they can talk to us and find strength/role models, I get great fulfillment from being 'out' and about.
