1. America is a melting pot, sooner or later the generations do assimilate and mix in with the American culture. For example all of us here, we aren't that "mexican," or "korean," we are pretty "American," especially compare to relatives or friends back in our "home" country. That definitely shows how all of us here have assimilated and have become part of this melting pot that we know as American culture.

2. it may not show that you are American but if you want to be part of this country and your protest is all about that? Well you better hold it up if you want to become an American Citizen. Last time we had Mexican flags during the rally we got lot of crap for it, hence the use of American flags. If you are so proud of your country and you want to hold up that flag? Well you can always go back right? In some ways I do agree that demanding in Spanish isn't effective. It gives those alipacers excuse to say "see they are not even fluent, why legalize people who can't speak our language?" Obviously, legalizing them for work/ agriculture related visa would be different but that's what they would say. I know a lot of American citizens that are not fluent and personally that does bother me...

If I ever march again in an immigrant rally, I would rather be struck by a lightening than to hold up a Korean flag... what the heck? Am I not marching to state my desire to be part of this country? Why in the world would I hold Korean flag and for what purpose?
