Have you guys fully read the article? Also Midtown in my opinion you have described the article in an almost 180 degree ways.
First of all, the candidate that you call " Tea party" backed is a Democrat that has voted in favor of Immigration reform. She is senator Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas who is supported and endorsed by President Obama and former president Clinton .
She is by no mean a Tea party candidate. The ten million dollars campaign you are talking about was by Labor unions who wanted probably a more progressive candidate. Senator Lincoln is called a moderate democrat by many. The labor unions wanted Bill Halter whom ( I assume) is more to the left.
On another note, Senator Reid is now facing against Sharron Angle. The best candidate possible for Senator Reid to go against. Now Senator Reid might actually be able to win. There are good chances for him.
So in the end, The primaries last night were actually kind of good news for democrats.
To be honest i do not know how you came up with all of that.
On a last note, elections are in November. I believe some of the polls had Senator Lincoln trailing Bill Halter by 10 points but she ended up winning by +4 points ( 52-48 ). So do not pay too much attention to the polls. Major campaigns haven't even started yet. And smallest scandals could shift the election results either way. Most races are just too close.
Oh i forgot to mention how picking Carly Fiorina basically destroyed any chances Republicans had to defeat Senator Boxer( If any lol). Now some one like Tom Campbell could have a slight chance, but then again he lost. Well the chances would be like .000000000001 ( maybe not even that) percent even for him Tom Campbell since Senator Boxer is the best senator ever

.
