1)I watched Rep. Luis Gutierrez yesterday on Univision, and he was asked why can't they vote on DreamAct now, and he said the House leadership (Pelosi) and the President are resisting pushing a plan forward. He also declined to push for DREAM now saying that "until 'we belive' that CIR cannot be accomplished (this year), we won't push for a plan that will benefit a particular group."

He also stated that he'd just spoken to the President "last week" and he 'promised' him that they would start a 'push' (he didn't clarify of what plan) in September.

2)I read on "The Hill"'s online version, specific Democratic legislators saying that they do not have a plan to pass any major legislation in the lameduck session. This wasnn't just an anonymous aide, here's an excerpt:
A key House Democratic leader recently shot down the notion that his party would move controversial measures after the election.

Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) Chairman Chris Van Hollen (Md.) on Friday called the idea “nonsense" during an interview.


“This whole effort to whip up hysteria as if there’s some secret plan to do stuff in the lame-duck session is just nonsense. This is a scare tactic at its very worst, they are trying to spread the notion that there’s a plan to do major legislation in a lame duck session — there isn’t. There just isn’t,” Van Hollen said on a conference call with reporters.

Who do we believe? I haven't read anything out of the 'advocates' themselves that proves they will try to pass DREAM after the elections. I do believe they do this puposefully to confuse and abate. I don't think they forecasted the activism that DREAM beneficiaries were going to push. Their goal is still CIR (which I support), but if it's understood AND agreed that DREAM should pass; the sooner the better, and it doesn't matter whether is on its own or part of a comprehensive package, when it'll be voted on its own merits. September is do or die for DREAM in my opinion. CIR advocates have gotten their a***s kicked by a buch of fools; it's unbelievable. And you know what? DREAM has grown exponential support in the last year thanks to the passion and belief that DREAMERS have poured into the movement. That's what wins legislation - it isn't funding, as these organizations had led us to believe. Passion and belief is what moved the t-baggers, as hateful as they are effective. If we really push for it, I believe there's a real chance of DREAM passing next month.
