I think it is important also not to lump the Tea Party types in with all of the far right. Many of them are okay with gay marriage, or abortion, or other issues that are usually considered to be "left". Many of them are also very anti- large corporations/ wall street.

Many of them seem to be more libertarian over all - very anti big government ( they want to get rid of the Department of Education for example ) . But for some reason, with all this libertarianism - pull yourself up by your bootstraps - they are very anti immigrant as well.
