If you take the nativist/racist element of GOP out, the remainder of the party would support CIR if they could take credit for it. If any Immigration Reform ever passes, democrats wants to claim victory - and that essentially will make it look like Democrats saved the Latino immigrant community from the evil republicans.

At the end of the day, poor immigrants are nothing but a pawn in their game. I say let Immigration fall on GOP's lap like Lindsey wants. We got nothing to lose. We have tried out democratic super majority for two years and nothing happened.
