If he talked to republicans he would get a major NO to the face. Trust me, republicans are so attached to the tea party right now that they are willing to break ties with the rest of the country and put the us in danger of defaulting on the debt.

Do you seriously think you can negotiate with them? The only way to get congress to do something is if there is a major shift in ideology, and thats what the president is attempting. I don't blame him for wanting a 2012 re election, everyone, even him have personal interests for political, or personal reasons.
You have no idea what an executive order on the issue of immigration would do. I agree that he needs to grow a stronger spine, and thats what he is doing. The President has the power to influence laws by talking to the people who elect the lawmakers. Texas is a big "R" in the country, if he can shift it with the hispanic vote, he would be able to do so much more.
