True, they could point to Dem obstructionism but it would look pretty weak if over a half of there party shoots down the bill too. Demint in the senate has already vetoed the bill and he's supposed to be one of the more "moderate" republican senator As for Obama, he's just content with speaking now. Immigration has never been one of his passions and he's rather uninterested in it in terms of policy or fire. He leaves immigration matters to Reid and Durbin. The man will do nothing for us this year besides play down the Repubs. Maybe in 2013 things might change.. As for his executive order he so could do it and it would look horrible for any repub president to even shut down that particular order, they would alienate hispanics for over fifty years with such an action.
