05/31/2012: Rep. David Rivera of Florida Introduces STARS Act (Different Name of Watered-Down DREAM) in the House

Another Hispanic Congressman from Florida introduced yesterday H.R. 5869 "Studying Towards Adjusted Residency Status (STARS) Act" bill in the House to cancel (waive) removal (deportation) of certain undocumented aliens who entered the country as children. The full text of this bill yet to be made available, but this bill apparently proposes to cancel removability and give certain nonimmigrant visa status for five years to those undocumented aliens who had entered the country as children so that they can go to college or university, and once they graduate from a college, their five-year limit nonimmigrant status be extended such that they could pursue permanent resident status legally just like any other nonimmigrants. This sounds very similar to the yet-to-be introduced Rubio bill in the Senate. One difference appears to be Rubio's requirement for attendance in college or military as requirement and apparent permission to work as a nonimmigrant. Reportedly, this Congressman discussed his proposal with Senator Rubio before it was introduced in the House. Reportedly, Sen. Rubio will not introduce his bill in the Senate until the end of this summer.
Well, they should be experts in the legislative and political process in this country, but to lay people, something does not add up with their calculators.
