Quote:
Earlier this year, President Obama took a courageous step forward to help undocumented young immigrants contribute more fully to America. He announced a new policy that would give these talented young men and women access to education and a clear path towards citizenship.

But Arizona Governor Jan Brewer is standing in the way. In direct defiance of federal policy, she issued an executive order a few days ago barring her state from issuing basic services to those who qualify for the benefits under President Obama's new policy.

Governor Brewer is wrong. Hundreds of thousands of Arizonans agree, including those who have been picketing outside the state capitol in Phoenix. Let's stand with them.

Sign my petition today: Tell Gov. Jan Brewer to reverse her decision, and give thousands of undocumented young immigrants a chance to be a part of America's future.

More than 10 years ago, I introduced the DREAM Act to address injustices like this: Thousands of promising young people who were brought here as children -- without a choice -- and grew up pledging allegiance to the American flag are not able to fully contribute to this country.

We cannot allow Governor Brewer -- famous for signing the "show me your papers" act into law -- to continue to act in such defiance and disrespect of our president, of our American values, and of young immigrants who simply want a chance to contribute more fully to our society.

These young people call Arizona their home, and the United States of America their country. President Obama is trying to help them find a path towards citizenship, and he needs your help.

Please call on Governor Brewer to reverse her decision -- and give all of Arizona's young people a chance to earn their way to the American dream.

Thank you for standing with me, and for helping me to do right by these young people.

Sincerely,

Dick Durbin
U.S. Senator
