They check the mileage if I remember correctly, I might have hallucinated this, but once you're going thru the inside controls they might see that and might reschedule your appt.
I believe it states somewhere in the DMV website the car has to be in good working order and not pose a danger.
I would find another car just to be 100% sure they'll let you drive.
