This week, House Republicans reminded us why passing comprehensive immigration reform isn't going to be easy.

In a committee hearing, some representatives were openly hostile to the idea of including a crucial component -- a path to citizenship -- in the proposal.

Despite this obstacle, I am still hopeful that immigration reform can pass.

We've assembled a bipartisan coalition in the Senate; President Obama has called reform a top priority; next week, the Senate Judiciary Committee will hold its first hearing on immigration reform; and more than 31,000 grassroots activists have signed our petition in support of our comprehensive reform framework.
