N GENERAL
.—The Secretary of

Homeland Security may adjust the status of a
9
registered provisional immigrant to the status
10
of a lawful permanent resident if the immigrant
11
demonstrates that he or she—
12
‘‘(i) has been a registered provisional
13
immigrant for at least 5 years;
14
‘‘(ii) was younger than 16 years of
15
age on the date on which the alien initially
16
entered the United States;
17
‘‘(iii) has earned a high school di-
18
ploma or obtained a general education de-
19
velopment certificate in the United States;
20
‘‘(iv)(I) has acquired a degree from an
21
institution of higher education or has com-
22
pleted at least 2 years, in good standing,
23
in a program for a bachelor’s degree or
24
higher degree in the United States; or
