Remember when all immigration lawyers were issuing panic warnings against turning oneself to immigration authorities and voicing doubt about deferred action and prosecutorial discretion? The DREAM act movement moved deferred action to the forefront of deportation defense and the clients who requested deferred action or a stay of removal against the doubts of their attorneys, ended up saving themselves by coming forward and being authentic about their rootedness in this country (myself included, though I don't have an EAD).
And I don't think an individual rooted in this country trying to make his or her way back to their HOME and families hurts the CIR movement. As if Lamar Smith, Peter and Steve King, Sen.Cornyn, etc, need an excuse to disapprove of a legalization program. Please. If it's not the nine activists, it will be the temperature dropped two degrees or Starbuck stopped offering their favorite drink, or fill-in-the-blank arbitrary and idiotic reason that no logical person would state. I discussed this with issue with my boyfriend, my sisters, friends and even some of my doctors, and they all said they'd do the same thing for their homes and families.
I'm sorry, Mr. Leopold, your argument falls on deaf ears.
