I received my EAD card on 11/08/12. When I checked online, the I-821D was still under "initial review". I called USCIS before going to get my SSN and they said that with the EAD I was okay to go and get my SNN and license, and that sometimes it takes a while to update my case online and that I shouldn't be worried.

Now, I'm trying to apply at Miami Dade College. In order for me to qualify as a resident to pay in-state tuition, they need a bunch of documents from my mom, utility bills etc. and on top of that, they need my EAD card, the EAD notification from USCIS (which I received before the card came in the mail) and also the notification letter from USCIS about form I-821D, which I haven't received yet.

I'm checking now, and turns out that after a year I'm still under "initial review". I just need the letter to sign up for classes in the spring, apparently the EAD letter and card aren't enough to prove to the college that I'm a DACA student.

Has this happened to any of you? Did you find a way to get USCIS to approve your case or at least mail you a notification letter?

Thanks!!
Just wanted to give you guys a quick update on this in case anyone is going through the same situation:

I called USCIS and after speaking to an officer, they sent me a letter to my house about my case. Turns out that apparently they did send me the notice of approval for 821D last year around the same time I received my EAD, which you guessed it, I have not received. I also told the officer that online it's still shows "initial review", but according to the letter, it has been approved. In order for me to get the approval notice, I have to fill out form 824, which is $405, for a duplicate document of something that I have already been approved for!!! Unbelievable. But oh well, I need to have it so I'm making the effort to get it ASAP.
Make sure you check your mail carefully whenever you get a notice from USCIS.
Best of luck to everyone!
