Another one advocating a permanent second-class citizenry.
Basically what's going to happen (in my honest opinion) if this guy's scheme is accepted is permanent legalization of people who overstay or jump the border in the future. They are legal, but they are never citizens. They can be here for five decades and then shipped home simply for committing one misdemeanor (like belting their sons for misbehaving badly).
No, I don't agree with it. Overstaying or jumping the border breaks the law, but it doesn't merit a life sentence, of permanent denial of citizenship.
I would support a punishment in the form of, say, 1000 hours of community service along with $5000 fine, or military service in order to secure citizenship. Put 10 years of wait time if necessary, but it shouldn't be forever.
