I think people are asking for too much. Personally, i have 15 consecutive years of recorded history and ties to this country for myself, though no family ties. I have both immediate family as well as other relatives that are U.S. citizens living here, but i'm completely disconnected from everyone. So i'm sure that if an executive order considers a minimum length of residency combined with family ties, then i'm screwed. And that's fine. I'm not going to bitch about it.

Another example is DACA beneficiaries. The people under this category didn't make the choice to come here. They were either brought here at a very young age or at an age where they could not control these choices, and therefore it is understandable that these people should be included in an executive order. And maybe i'm completely wrong, heartless, or whatever you want to call it; but looking at it from a logical stand point, i don't think parents of DACA beneficiaries should be considered unless they were brought into the country under the same circumstances that allowed DACA beneficiaries to apply. Otherwise, it means they made the choice to come here. And yes, i know that a lot of adults are forced to make that choice and come here illegally due to a number of reasons, but i believe an executive order should be put down under very strict criteria, even if it leaves me out personally. Yes, i know that families don't want to be separated and all of that, because i'm not a fucking idiot; but we have to look at this executive order as something that should benefit everyone, from illegal immigrants for humanitarian purposes to american citizens, collectively not personally.

My point is that whatever the executive order is, if any, it's going to inevitably leave people out. And rather than people being pissed off for being left out and asking for too much, we should be happy for those that are included and move on.
