I don't fit the typical hispanic stereotype, because I happen to look what most people call "white hispanic". I don't have family that is undocumented, the only one friend that I had that was not a U.S. citizen, now has a green card. So based on your statement if I decide to vote republican in the next election, it will show that I have little respect for myself? Why? Because I don't place immigration as my number one priority? Because being Hispanic automatically means I have to vote democratic? Because being Hispanic basically means I can't think for myself and have to follow the masses?
Natalie, I don't think you understand exactly the point IamAman is trying to make. As you stated you are a U.S citizen and you are not affiliated with anyone who is undocumented and therefore you have no idea exactly why undocumented/dreamers cannot and will not ever support Republicans.

Let me put it to you this way, say you found out that in fact you are undocumented, you came from Argentina from a very young age and practically grew up here. Your friends, family, your life is here in America and now all of a sudden a group of people want you out of this country? The country you grew to love and accept as your own is now the country that wants to get rid of you? Can you honestly say to yourself that you can support this group that wants you gone?

How about a different situation and instead you remain a U.S citizen but your father who you loves you dearly, will work unimaginable hours for a salary way below the minimum wage just to make sure you have a place to stay at night is now all of a sudden being rounded up because he isn't here legally, can you still say that the group that wants your father gone is a group you can support?

I do understand what you are trying to say, and yes regardless of your race, ethnicity, religion, one should have the free will to vote for oneself. But in this particular situation in which this ENTIRE WEBSITE is based upon there is no absolute way in which an undocumented/dreamer will ever support Republicans who will stop at nothing to get rid of them.

It may be hard for you to understand where IamAman is coming from, due to the fact that you most likely do not understand how difficult life has been for many if not all of the undocumented population here. Each and everyone of them tries to be a productive member of society, do as they are told, chase the american dream and yet they cannot because their lives are defined by LIMITS.

When it comes to Hispanics voting for Democrats is not isolated to just hispanics, yes there is a good percentage of hispanics in the undocumented population but they are not the only ones, there are other vast ethnicity as well. After all I have briefly mentioned what makes you think that if a hispanic or asian who has ties to family or friends who happen to be undocumented vote for a party that essentially want them out of the country?
