Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has been indicted by a grand jury on multiple felony charges, according to reports.

The charges will be unsealed Monday in McKinney, Texas, around noon, WFAA News said.

A Tarrant County judge has already been appointed to take up the case, according to the report.

Special prosecutors plan on presenting a first-degree felony charge against Paxton, 52, accusing him of securities fraud.

Another third-degree charge alleges that Paxton failed to register with Texas’s state securities board.

Both Paxton’s position and law license are at stake if convicted.

Paxton would not have to relinquish his post as he prepares for a potential criminal trial against him. He became the Texas attorney general last January.

The charges against him stem from alleged conduct during his tenure in the state legislature, the report said.

The charges are likely related to Servergy, a company based in McKinney currently under investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Paxton reportedly owns at least 10,000 shares of Servergy stock, according to Texas filings obtained by ABC’s local affiliate.

He is also named in SEC filings accusing the company of misleading investors.

Court records filed last December said that the SEC is probing Servergy for “possibly fraudulent statements or omissions related to Servergy’s technology and purported business relationships.”

Paxton has repeatedly waded into national politics this year by challenging President Obama and his administration’s policies impacting Texas.

He vowed last June that his state’s county clerks could refuse to issue same-sex marriage certificates on religious grounds despite the Supreme Court’s ruling that month protecting the practice.

The Texas attorney general has also fought the implementation of Obama’s executive order on immigration within his state’s borders.

Paxton can surrender for photographing, fingerprinting and booking Monday after the indictment against him is unsealed.
