When I applied for the first AP, I did the whole translation thing for both myself and my sister and got them notarized as well. My sister's application did not have any problem since her documents were translated by me. On the other hand, I received a RFE stating that the applicant's own translation of her/his document is not accepted. As a result I had to have someone else do it for me. It did delay my application process by a week or two.

Now I see that others' application did not induce the same problem, so I guess it all depends on the person who takes your packet.
