I was seen within 10 minutes, and the lady at the counter was quite possibly the least helpful government employee I have dealt with. Every time I would speak, she would cut me off. She literally kept saying. "We don't handle work permits, Nebraska does." Whenever I would ask a follow up question, she would cut me off and kept saying that I "just didn't get it." She got a supervisor for me, who was much more patient and nice, but whose advice was ultimately, "have your employer write a letter explaining your hardship to USCIS." Not email, snail mail.
So it looks like if they don't rush through the applications, I'll be terminated from work August 17. The good news is that they have told me they will rehire me if I get it renewed soon after, but I really want to avoid all that hassle.

Had the same experience last week. They are freaking pointless. Mine expires in like two weeks. My jobs hasnt sait anything and im sure they could hire me back if they end up terminating. However, im just afraid the renewals are going to be taking much longer that 6 months. This is bs though.
