NILC has been actively interested in this issue. I was one of the people who contacted them and when I did, I included links to this forum and the panicked threads. That same day within an hour, they posted here informing us they were aware and working on it.

NILC will try to help flag cases as you approach your expiration however I do believe USCIS doesn't feel pressured in the slightest.
