See, to me, it's not so much about being loud and obnixious, it's about the kind of emotions he brings out in people. This is how it started in Germany, xenophobia, racism, reaching down the lowest of human emotions and using them to his advantage. There are more parallels we could argue, but the basic thing to me is that he's dangerous, just like Jorge Ramos once said. There were perfectably reasonable people in Germany who got seduced by the "logical" reasons he first brought out like "saying it like it is", or being "not your everyday politician". And then when they turned around and saw what he actually did, they knew they had made a huge mistake, a mistake which Germany will pretty much pay forever as they will always be associated with the holocaust and genocide.
