I called the airlines and they told me that I can get by TSA if I show my SS card and another non-expired ID with my photo (college card/work badge). However, deep down, I'm still a bit hesitant because I'm flying from coast to coast and if they reject me, I might have to take a bus back  .

Same here brother. Although, I sent in my renewal date. Hoping it happens in the next couple of weeks. Been having to use my car minimally.
