This will be a long shot but I am certainly thankful for Senator Durbin and his support.

The page was in spanish and just used the translate function so I hope it makes sense.

WASHINGTON The Democratic senator from Illinois, Dick Durbin, said Monday it will introduce a measure to protect the "Dreamers" covered under the "DACA" 2012, and urged the president-elect Donald Trump, to maintain that program goodwill gesture to heal the divisions of the war.

In an interview with this newspaper from his spacious office in the Capitol, Durbin said that if the program of "deferred action" is not renewed, more than 740,000 "Dreamers" remain in limbo , but expressed confidence that Trump soften its rhetoric.

"We are trying to approach the elected president asking him to evaluate this matter ... do not know what Donald Trump as president, we know everything said in the race, hard things, scary, divisive and even hateful. I hope that the office of the Presidency have a profound and positive impact on him, "he said.

"I do not think there's a miracle or magic before 20 January, but will present a bill in the next session starting in January, and we will be organizing the support of legislators," he said.

"Perhaps the Republicans have a different way to correct the problem which we present immigration while Democrats, but ask that at least protect these young people, who do not put at risk of deportation," he said.

The capsizing of the "Dreamers" has reached the ears of the Vatican, according to Durbin, who traveled to Rome last week because the archbishop of Chicago was promoted to cardinal.

On 8 November, when he defeated at the polls to Democrat Hillary Clinton, Trump asked leave behind the squabbles and "heal the wounds of division" in the race.

Durbin co-authored the "Dream Act" of 2001, who died in Congress in this and subsequent years. Unlike that measure, which would have been permanently, the "DACA" 2012 is a temporary "band-aid", implemented by a guideline that Trump could well remove with just his signature.

There will be no presidential pardon

To Durbin, budding measure becomes urgent because President Barack Obama, in his opinion, can not offer a "pardon" to the "Dreamers", as requested by pro-immigrant groups.

"First, because the presidential pardon applies to criminal acts-and the illegal presence is a civil immigration offense and secondly, even if it could, if forgives today, tomorrow they would again violate (immigration law)," said Durbin.

Although there are precedents for presidential "pardon" with Confederate soldiers after the Civil War, and those who evaded conscription into the Vietnam War, both those pardoned were citizens or legal residents, experts said.

Obama "has few options if they have any; their hands are tied , "he said Durbin, who has spoken directly with the president, with its main domestic policy adviser, Cecilia Muņoz, and with the departments of Justice and Homeland Security.
