You're naive if you think simply 'staying out of trouble' is enough.. You clearly have never worked in or studied criminal law and cases. Aggressive and overzealous police and prosecutors frame citizens all the time to get their numbers up. I dont mean serious felonies, but petty crime, that is easier to 'plead out of' and not worth the cost of a legal fight or attorneys. But for any immigrant it becomes a serious offence.
