Democrats have already created their own political suicide with the passing of Obamacare. A net loss of 1,042 state and federal Democratic posts, including congressional and state legislative seats, governorships and the presidency since Obamacare passed.
Republicans have increased their control in state legislatures leaving Democrats with their lowest level since the Civil War. The Democrats can't afford an "amnesty" bill. It's very popular to be anti-immigration now a days, just ask the GOP. They won the majority of their races by being anti-immigration. Even winning moderate states.
If you think that these vulnerable democratic senators who are running for re-election in deep red states somehow need to be immigration friendly in order to win, boy are you in for a wake up call. This whole "political suicide" if your not immigrant friendly argument does not work in my opinion. Trump and the GOP have won major political races by being anti-immigration. Remember when we were saying how he was heading towards the political suicide of the GOP by being a hardcore anti-illegal immigration? Yeah how did that go come election time? Not only did they win, but they won BIG!
Now, do I believe that they will hang us dry completely ? I don't think so, I do believe the BRIDGE act has a better chance of passing just so they can extend this issue come election time. Another option could be that the lawsuit may be dismissed or President Trump will adjust DACA so it goes untouched for now. However I don't see a final solution anytime soon. Not with how dysfunctional congress is. They can't even agree on the most simplest issue but somehow we expect congress to come together and have sympathy for us and save us? Just the same way they have sympathy for everyone on Obamacare right? How is that going by the way?
I understand the optimism but reality has to kick in sooner or later.
