I see what you saying. So if the bill instead didn't cut half but switch the skilled workers to have the benefits of being a family member and family member being skilled workers (interchange the number they allow between skilled workers and family petition) would you be okay with this Eva?
I guess what I'm trying to get at is that your issue is cutting immigration by half and not the new merit system.

There are 1.31 million Mexicans currently waiting for a green card and nearly all of them are family petitions. If we cut immigration in half, they might never get to come to the USA because the waiting times will be more than a life time.
