If Democrats don't do nothing come December. DACA talks will be shelved for a very long time. They want to target taxes which won't be easy, and then come back to healthcare for the millionth time.

They don't technically have to shut the government down. The Republicans have the votes to pass anything without the need for Democrats. They would only need to filibuster if a budget deal passes the house... very unlikely. The most likely scenario is the Republican leadership and Trump meet with the Dems near December to strike up a deal. Democrats can demand a clean DA or even a DA with sensible border security provisions and that's it.
Also, I disagree... in March as DREAMers start to expire and some get caught up in Trump's deportation machine there will be a public outcry. It'll be a international travesty.
