Negotiating and compromising are not the same. A compromise is some kind of result of negotiations, give this for that. You go around throwing concessions from the get go and you'll just get fucked up the ass with no lube.
Clean dream act is the ideal goal, probably we won't get there but you start negotiating from here you will give some border security for that so the government doesn't collapse when it hits the debt ceiling. Keep demanding a stupid clean bill and chances are you will derail shit and get nothing. Durbin has been negotiating already. We should be injecting ourselves in the negotiations because we will not like the compromise or end result that they reach ON OUR BEHALF. We will protest then about the end result, ask for revisions, and waste time.
